iBike - iCycle - Left turn (minor road to major road)

Priority at junctions

A minor road could have either a Give Way,

Stop line or no road markings. If there are no road markings, treat the junction as a Give Way. You need to think about who has priority and how you are going to deal with other traffic and pedestrians.

Left turn (minor road to major road)

Take a look at the diagram below:

Cyclist A is approaching the junction. Drag and drop the instructions in the green box below into the correct order in the blue box opposite. If you need some help please view the video clip below the coloured boxes.

You can also download the printed version here.

  • Look back as you approach the junction.
  • Signal clearly with the left arm – holding for at least 3 seconds.
  • Put both hands back on.
  • Give a lifesaver look back.
  • Check the junction – look both ways for traffic.
  • Give way line – if no traffic is coming continue turning left onto major road. If traffic is near you will need to stop. Reset the 5 pedal and then follow the iCycle System when the road is clear.

Congratulations!
You put all the steps in the correct order!
